Mid-Day Munchies- What’s for Lunch?

The best part of lunch is the break it gives you in the middle of the day! But it’s even better when you’re enjoying a meal as well. Like any city, there are literally hundreds of dining options in College Park from fast food to fast-casual, from family-style to fine dining. The more time my daughter spends there, the more places to eat we have discovered. Food is a big draw for us, can you tell?

Your lunch choices will often depend upon whether you are touring with a prospective student, which will probably be in a dining hall or at a fast-food restaurant or making a visit to your established Terp, who will undoubtedly be clamoring for a good meal. Some things to consider beforehand are price and time. It is not unusual for there to be a considerable wait at some of the more popular lunch spots – even with a reservation – during a game weekend, official tour dates, or graduation. Many of the restaurants on our breakfast, brunch, and dinner blogs also serve lunch, so be sure to check them out as you refine your lunch plans.

Near Campus

• Bagel Place– Bagel Place is one of my favorite bagel places in College Park. In addition to their daily freshly baked bagels, they serve muffins, coffee, deli options, and more!
• Blaze Pizza- If you are in the mood for a delicious pizza, I recommend Blaze. This pizza chain allows you to customize your pizza with endless toppings.
• Cava– Located right on Baltimore Avenue, Cava is a Mediterranean chain that has great bowls, salads, and pita wraps to satisfy your lunchtime craving.
• Casey’s Coffee– Located on Campus Drive right off of South Campus, Casey’s Coffee has so many healthy options for lunch. They have salads, wraps, smoothies, and more great food options.
• Chipotle- This Mexican style chain is a huge favorite among college students and is located on Baltimore Avenue.
• Cornerstone Grill & Loft– This popular bar serves many great lunch options. My favorite is the Hamburger and fries and the spinach dip.
• Hanami -If you are in the mood for some delicious sushi and Japanese style food, Hanami is the place to be.
• Marathon Deli- This restaurant has the best Greek food in College Park. Their gyros and marathon fries are every UMD student’s favorite!
• NuVegan Café-This vegan café is great for those students who are vegan or vegetarian. They offer various salads, mac & cheese, sandwiches, and more!
• Potomac Pizza-A local chain, Potomac Pizza is a College Park classic. Whether you are craving pizza, wings, or subs, Potomac Pizza has it all!
• Sweetgreen– This tasty salad chain is located just down Baltimore Avenue. They have delicious salads with so many options.
• The Board and Brew– This restaurant on Baltimore Avenue is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have unique healthy options and fun set up, allowing customers to play games while they dine in.
• The Hall – One of my favorite dining spots, The Hall is a great option for lunch. This new restaurant offers delicious appetizers, specialty pizzas, unique salads, and much more.
• The Spot– Located on Knox Road, this Asian Fusion has plenty of options for a nice, quick, lunch. They offer sushi, poke bowls, ramen, boba tea, and more!

On-Campus

• Applause Café– Located on the second floor of The Clarice, Applause is a full café that serves both breakfast, lunch, and drinks. Open Monday- Friday 8 AM- 3 PM
• Chick-fil-A– Located in Stamp Student Union
• Moby Dick– Located in Stamp Student Union
• Qdoba– Located in Stamp Student Union
• Rudy’s Café- Located on the first floor of Van Munching Hall, Rudy’s Café has many delicious snacks, meals, and Starbucks coffee. Open Monday- Thursday 7:30 AM- 7:30 PM
• Saladworks- Located in Stamp Student Union
• Starbucks– Starbucks Coffee is served all throughout the campus. You can buy Starbucks coffee and treats in Stamp Student Union, Van Munching Hall, The Clarice, McKeldin Library, Physics Building, and many other buildings on campus.
• Subway– Located in Stamp Student Union
