Celebrating Tradition
As we celebrate the Passover traditions, there’s no better time to add a touch of beauty and elegance to the table. Whether hosting an intimate family affair or a grand gathering with loved ones, setting a spring Passover tablescape honors this holiday in style.
The Symbolism of Spring & Passover
Passover has significant ties to spring, both historically and symbolically. There are several reasons why Passover is considered a spring holiday. This includes the start of the spring agriculture season when crops begin to crop and flourish. Passover serves as a celebration of new life, growth, and the land’s bounty.
Spring is a season associated with renewal and rebirth. As winter turns to spring, flowers bloom, bringing a sense of rejuvenation. Similarly, Passover represents a time of spiritual renewal and liberation. It commemorates the Israelites’ exodus from slavery in Egypt.
Incorporating the Symbolism into a Tablescape
Before we get into the decorative details, let’s lay the foundation for a Spring Passover table. My vision was to create a table that incorporates the symbols and traditions of this holiday. White symbolizes purity and renewal, so I wanted it to feature predominantly on the table. I began with a white Damask table runner and Damask white napkins to add sophistication to the place settings.
The plates and bowls belonged to my aunt. Using her tableware this year is meaningful, especially since this is our first Seder without her presence. Our family used the traditional Hagaddahs. All I did was cover them with blue linen paper and create an image to tie in with the table. If you want to use the same artwork, click and print.
Traditional Elements
Passover is rich in symbolism, so we incorporate traditional elements into the spring tablescape. I found this handmade ceramic pink flower Star of David Seder plate. This serves as the table’s focal point. It will be adorned with the symbolic foods that tell the story of the Exodus. I also included this pink flower matzah cover and wine goblets to honor the holiday’s rituals.
Embrace Spring Florals
Consider incorporating spring-inspired floral arrangements to add a touch of beauty and freshness to your Spring Passover table. Choose blossoms in white, pink, and green hues, symbolizing purity, renewal, and growth. Arrange these floral accents in elegant bud vases scattered along the length of the table. This helps in infusing the space with a sense of vitality and joy. My florals came from Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s has a variety of spring florals, adding color and dimension to the table.
Illuminate with Candlelight
Set the mood for your Passover Seder with the warm glow of candlelight. I arranged elegant taper candles. I also used Star of David Pink, Blue, and white Palette Votive Holders holding tealight candles. They are only available in indigo now. This adds warmth to your tablescape. They symbolize the light of freedom that we celebrate on Passover.
