Make Sure Your Package Gets There
There are many reasons that a student receives a package. Whether it is just their usual Amazon delivery or a care package for midterms or because your student is under the weather, there are a few things that will make package delivery simpler. FSU has its own UPS store on campus that is across from the FSU Police Department. Students are assigned a Student U-Box (University Box) which is the equivalent of a Post Office Box on campus. They are notified by email when they have a package. There is no mail service on Saturday and Sunday. They may also receive UPS and FedEx mail to this Student U-Box. If you are not sure of their U-Box number, contact The UPS Store by email at store6133@theupsstore.com.
We actually recommend using UPS (or FedEx) in comparison to USPS as it is just timelier, especially for in-state shipping. Typically, if you are sending packages from one Florida location to another, it arrives in one day at no additional fee. (barring any weather issues) The UPS Store is within walking distance to most dorms, especially Devaney and Dorman. While the Oglesby Union is closed, they are located at a new location is 206 S Woodward Ave. CVS is now a UPS Access Point Location.
Have U Heard that you can also pick up and drop off FedEx packages at Walgreens, Office Depot, and OfficeMax? There are several Walgreens close to campus. If you are sending packages through Amazon, you might want to consider having them sent directly to Amazon Locker that is located at 1817 Thomasville Road at Whole Foods. Sometimes picking it up from Amazon is easier than having to navigate the package delivery to dorms or even apartments.
On-campus students should use the “old” address for mail and packages:
75 N. Woodward Ave.
U-box #
Tallahassee, FL 32313
Perishable items will not be delivered to the residence halls. All packages for students that are sent by USPS, UPS, and FedEx are delivered to The UPS Store. The UPS Store will refrigerate items if space is available. For deliveries from local florists, use the following address format to be sure packages is accepted to the residence hall office where the student lives. The address for deliveries of this:
Student’s Name
Room Number and Hall
Street Name (see list below)
Florida State University
Tallahassee, FL 32306
The hall receptionist will accept delivery on the student’s behalf and will email residents when deliveries arrive. For food orders (i.e. pizza) students should provide the name of their residence hall. Food delivery drivers should be able to get to the main door of the residence hall where vendors have access to the outside phone. Students must come downstairs to pay for and pick up their orders. For local food deliveries, each dorm has a specific address to provide to restaurants. Find those addresses. You may want to take a look at our Care Package blog for ideas on what to send and when.
