Orange Crush or True-Blue …Gator!

Gator fan

Putting Together Great Gator Outfits

I love going to Gator football games- there is nothing like game day. HaveUHeard how UF got its colors? In 1910, Orange and Blue were chosen as the official colors from the two schools that united to form a new school. The University of Florida at Lake City had school colors of blue and white and East Florida Seminary in Gainesville had orange and black. I’m all about the Orange & Blue on game days but I am also about fashion. I want to be comfortable, especially on those Florida humid days when you are packed in a stadium, it’s more than 90° out, and the humidity is stifling. There is a very good reason they call it the Swamp.

For each game, UF will determine what color you should wear… sometimes it’s orange, sometimes it’s Gator blue (royal blue to most of us) and sometimes they call for a whiteout.  If you have physical football tickets, you’ll know what color they are wearing for that game. Many tickets today you access through your app so that makes it challenging to figure out. They will announce the color prior to each game. Want to know the actual primary colors- UF gives you the graphic versions.

We think the best in authentic college clothing, accessories, and fan gear is Fanatics. They carry brands such as Jordan Gear, Vineyard Vines, Stance, Columbia, Dooney & Bourke, Tommy Bahama, Vera Bradley, Orca, Southern Tide, College Row One Shoes, Johnnie-O Clothing, and Peter Millar Clothing. Add in everything you need for tailgating including NCAA tents, tables, and chairs, waterless face tattoos, eye black, jewelry, and more.

For shorts or jeans (only if it is cool out- even ’70s will still be hot in the Swamp), I like American Eagle’s mom jeans or denim shorts.

I’ve also found some very cool retro Gator outfits on American Eagle’s tailgate website. If wearing a comfortable dress is the way you want to go, definitely check out some of these fun Game Day dresses from Redbubble. We have also found a good selection at Kohls.

If you are a Lilly fan, then you will love their orange line- may not be exactly the same orange, but it’s close enough.

Sometimes I love to crush the orange or stick to being a true-blue fan. If you are like me and more about ‘repping the school’s colors, just look for orange or Gator blue. There are some private online stores that specialize in Game Day Attire that we like:

Throw in some accessories including a regulation stadium bag from SCORE! The Official Game Day bag (you even get a 15% discount- get code by clicking on the link), cute orange and blue earrings and everyone will know you love the Gators!

We would strongly recommend leaving the high heels at home as you will be walking a good distance to the stadium (unless you were lucky enough to get there many, many hours in advance and snag a great parking spot) and climbing stands. I love wearing Converse sneakers or Adidas Stan Smith, depending on my outfit. For cooler weather, I even have worn flat boots.
