Because Grad School Needs Are Different

For students heading to Grad School, finding an apartment if they are going to a different university entails completely different criteria. Many students switch schools for their graduate studies, and that means new housing options. Grad School housing comes with its own unique challenges. With expensive tuition and long study sessions, the last thing they need to worry about is finding an apartment at or near UMD.

One amazing part about being a grad student at the University of Maryland is that they have two all-graduate student apartment communities that are located on University property. The Graduate Gardens and the Graduate Hills communities are the two on-campus options that are owned by the university and managed by a property management company on the University’s behalf.

These grad student exclusive communities are located at 3424 Tulane Drive, Hyattsville, MD 20783, and are located on the west side of the main campus. The starting price for living in one of these apartments is $1227. Both the Graduate Gardens and Graduate Hills offer studios, 1 bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. These communities have great features and amenities such as a community garden, pet friendly (cats), has an option of furnished apartments, laundry facilities in the building, an on-site Zipcar, a grilling station, and much more.

In addition to these graduate specific communities, there are plenty of other off-campus housing options for grad students. Whether you are looking to live in an apartment or a house, UMD has it all. The University of Maryland Off-Campus Housing Services provides resources to students and assists them in finding off-campus housing. The OCH Database allows you to look for housing and post housing listings. Both apartments and house availability are listed with address, floorplan, price, pictures/videos, and who it is listed by. On the database, you can also narrow your search by inputting your price range, what type of living space you are interested in, and how many beds and baths you are looking for.
