Just Need A Quiet Place, Right?

Everyone has a special way to study. Some like it quiet, some like it loud. Whatever you do just be sure to study! If you’re a student that enjoys studying outdoors, there is no shortage of open green spaces and lush tropical corners to hide away and get to the books.  A great hideaway spot away from the hustle and bustle is known as The Pit, which is actually a sinkhole situated on the east side of campus next to the College of Engineering that has benches and picnic tables for you to sit and hang out.

Many academic buildings have courtyards with tables and chairs conducive to studying or group projects. Many students enjoy grabbing a coffee at the Donne E. Shalala Student Activities Center and sitting out by Lake Osceola while others enjoy kicking back in a hammock or settling into one of the dozens of glider tables situated around campus. However, we all know when it’s crunch time, students often find the less distraction the better, and other than your dorm room or apartment, the top spots for mega studying happens in several libraries on campus. Richter Library even has a Starbucks located inside the premises for those late-night coffee cravings.

On-Campus:

  • Richter Main Library  (or Club Richter as the kids call it)
  • Stacks of Richter
  • Starbucks in the SCC
  • Konapun Study lounge (first Floor SCC)
  • Arboretum
  • Music Library
  • Law library
  • Architecture Library

Off-Campus:

  • Tea and Poets at the Shops of Sunset Place
  • Dr. Smood – South Miami Organic Café
  • Starbucks on US1, directly across the street from campus
