Campus Guide to Resources for Multicultural Students

Campus diversity amongst students has grown considerably over the years and UM vies to maintain an inclusive atmosphere; allowing all students to gain exposure, perceptions, global awareness, and a willingness to collaborate peacefully and freely. Whether serving as a forum for communication, helping minority students build strong social networks, or simply in pursuit of a welcoming space amongst other students of color; UM undoubtedly has a place where you will find your connections.

United Black Students serves to unite, empower, and uplift African Americans through cultural, professional, and personal events and initiatives. They can be found through Engage or followed on Facebook for upcoming events.

Among the organizations, clubs, and groups on campus; students may also be interested in joining one of the sororities or fraternities. The following are part of the Multi-cultural Greek-letter fraternities and sororities.

There are still many other organizations dedicated to celebrating and empowering students of color at UM. The Black Leadership Caucus provides a list that includes professional organizations, role models and leadership opportunities, and places to voice their opinions. Students may find affiliated organizations that also strive to raise cultural awareness, diversity, and knowledge about current issues at UM. Black Awareness month, in February, needs students to help plan events. If you are interested in being a part of the committee and would like to help plan one of the events or the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration in January, or would like information on becoming a sponsor, please contact MSA at 305-284-2855.

The Toppel Career Center at UM encourages students of color at the University of Miami to enhance their professional development through engagement with diverse student organizations and campus resources dedicated to promoting the unique perspectives of students from diverse backgrounds. Some of their resources include:
