More than Football…Entertainment
That’s entertainment! Are you looking for more than the typical? The Hippodrome, a downtown landmark, is a must-see during your time in Gainesville. Their diverse offerings include live theater, films, gallery exhibits, classes, and special events. Monday nights feature their special Jazz Nights and a host of UF’s most talented musicians, both faculty and student. The Hippodrome also screens first-run foreign, limited-release and avant-garde films.
HaveUHeard about Celebration Pointe? Along with their cinemas, you’ll find live music, good food, and fun times. Be sure to check out their event calendar. If a movie night is what you are looking for, you can also head to the Regal Cinemas (Regal Royal Park Stadium 16) on Archer Road or the Regal Cinema Gainesville Stadium 14 on SW 35th Blvd.
For bowling, there are three bowling alleys. The Closest is at the Reitz Union which was renovated in Spring 2016. The other two alleys are Splitz, near the Oaks Mall, and Alley Gatorz Bowling Center on Waldo, admittedly much further away. Funworks, owned by the same company that operates Splitz, includes roller skating, miniature golf, rock climbing, roller hockey, go-karts, batting cages, and an arcade.
And while Disney is a bit of a drive, HaveUHeard that UF Students can now get a discount ticket to Walt Disney World in Orlando with a valid Gator 1 Card? Prices will be discounted anywhere from 11 to 15 percent, depending on the ticket package and the day. The discount can be used for up to six tickets every 90 day period. There are other restrictions. Click here for additional information.
