Based on recent advertising, the holiday season has started. My email and literal mailbox are filled with catalogs and discount coupons. Retailers have inventories left over from last year. Inflation is creating pain in our wallets. Not to mention supply chain headaches. Bah humbug. With advanced budgeting and planning, there are ways to stretch your dollar. We present our 2022 Holiday Gift Guide.

Finding the perfect gift for an adult child can be complicated. Money and gift cards are always appreciated. But I also like to surprise them with gifts I know they have been eyeing. Hopefully, you’ve started on your gift list. These suggestions are products my daughters or I own. They’ve dropped some not-so-subtle gift suggestions, so I’ve included them.

Money Saving Tips

When planning your holiday shopping lists, take advantage of savings. Many of my credit cards offer savings, but you have to add those to your card. Every month, I go through my American Express and Chase Sapphire offers to add any retailers I may purchase from. Before checking out for online shopping, I will see if any offers are on my cards. Additionally, check your apps, as there may be coupons you can also use.

If you follow influencers on Instagram, they often will share a discount code (as do we at HaveUHeard). Same with CVS, Walgreens, and most retailers. Check your point balances. I let my points accrue all year. Then I will use them to purchase gift cards. You can even order them digitally if you are down to the wire, which you won’t be if you get a head start.

Fluffy Gifts

Seems our adult kids are looking to wrap themselves in fluffiness. I get it… it’s comforting and cozy. I want to think it reminds them of home.

Barefoot Dreams – This super soft throw is a very popular gift item. My daughters each received this as a birthday present from friends. They LOVE it! They tell me it is the most comforting throw to wrap yourself with.

Fluffy robe- fluffy robes are all the rage.  You can save or splurge on these items from Amazon to Target to Nordstrom.

Fluffy slippers – how can you not put a smile on their face with these trendy cute smiley face slippers

Other Holiday Gift Suggestions

2023 Day  Designer Planner – Being organized is a big thing with our kids. These functional daily and weekly planners are perfect. So many of us feel overwhelmed in our daily lives. This is a tool to overcome that feeling. Plus, they are beautiful.

Cute Tote Bags – Save or splurge with cute totes. Perfect for toting their laptop, yoga clothes, LPs, and art supplies. Recycled cotton canvas tote and machine washable. We like the ones from Baggu, FEED (Every product sold provides school meals to the most vulnerable communities throughout the globe). I love my Longchamp tote.  Madewell has some nice canvas tote bags as well.

Travel

My older daughter has traveled over 15 times this year for weddings and bachelorette events. Her sister has traveled to visit friends in Europe and to visit me. Whether it is a study abroad program, business, or pleasure, they love the luggage and travel bags I gifted them. From Away luggage to Beis luggage, they’re both great. We love the compression system. We all have the Beis weekend travel bag, which slides over the luggage handle. Take it a step further with packing cubes.

Throw in an Apple AirTag to track luggage. They’ll want to bring a travel journal to remember all the details.

Jewelry

Our adult daughters have great taste. For jewelry, they love Mejuri and Catbird.

Body Sprays & Perfumes – Sol de Janeiro Brazilian body spray, Replica, Flower Bomb, Caroline Herrera, and Baccarat perfume are some of the more requested scents for our adult kids. You can snag some great dupes from Dossier.

Splurge Gifts

I know times are tough. Our gift guide has affordable items and some splurges. It goes without saying that budgeting is crucial when it comes to the holidays. But if you are looking to splurge, here are some suggestions.

Nike Dunks –  For the holidays, Nike dunks are a slam dunk for the holidays.  They are hard to grab on Nike but you can also check Stockx and GOAT.
