Joy To The World
You may have sensed that I love decorating my dining room table for the holidays. I’ve decorated for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Passover, and Hanukkah. Needing to bring joy to the world, I decided to try my hand at a Christmas Tablescape because Christmas in July is a thing. I know that seems unconventional for a Jewish woman to decorate a Christmas table. It’s not that complicated. If I can bring joy to another home, why not?
I started with a plaid burlap table runner to not cover up my wood table. It is reversible, so I went with the burlap side and plaid trim.
Most of my inspiration comes from Pinterest and Instagram. I also search my house to see what I have on hand that can be adapted to the table. One of those items is Mason Jars. So when I saw this DIY centerpiece, I knew that would work well with how I envisioned the tablescape. I adapted it from Yellow Bliss Road’s centerpiece. But, living in Florida, I could not access fresh-cut juniper branches. That’s where Amazon comes in.
What you’ll need
Fill the bottom with Epsom salt. Layer on the berries which I trimmed from the wire stems. Next, place the pine needle branches.
For the main centerpiece, first, I used Hodgepodge at the top of the Mason Jar and sprinkled on the Epsom salt. You could also use kosher salt or a combination of kosher salt with silver glitter. Next, I followed the same instructions, layering the salt and the berries.
Table Setting Pieces
Of course, the tableware I used started with this Season of Joy table setting from Sophistiplate. If you are unfamiliar with this company, they sell sturdy, sophisticated table settings for many occasions and themes. You can purchase quantities of 8, 16, 32, and 48. Their Season of Joy set is currently on sale for $47.35. It includes the dinner plates (8), paper salad/dessert plate (8), guest towels (16), cocktail napkins (16), lunch napkins (16), and emerald & gold assorted plastic cutlery (service for 8). Everything is disposable, making clean-up a breeze. The cutlery is reusable too.
Full disclosure, I receive a small commission. The reviews are my own, and I purchased the setting myself.
Now Bring On Christmas …
We can all use more joy in our world today. Get a head start on planning during July because… Christmas in July.
